In March of 2020, just as the world went into lockdown, a burgeoning online musical friendship began between Izo and renowned L.A. producer Erik Janson, who both shared a deep love of mid 60s and early 70s soul and rock records. They began to write a series of songs to describe their experiences from the year, but with a sound harkening back to records like Dusty Springfield’s Dusty In Memphis and Bill Withers Just As I Am.
The result was a trio of songs that will be released as standalone singles in the second half of 2021 ahead of and separate to Izo’s third album due for 2022.
'Everybody Knows This Ain't Right' and Little Birdie have already proved crowd pleasers with fans old and new, now the final song of the trio is released.
'Thelma & Louise (We're Not Looking Back)’ is a full blown soulful dedication to the old doowop and RnB records of the 60s. The message being no matter how little you feel you might have in the moment, it’s a gift to be in the present and look towards a hopeful future. On this track Izo and Erik drafted in a serious array of LA’s premier musicians who have previously worked with the likes of Sharon Jones, Lauryn Hill and Quantic.
