Having built up an incredibly strong following for his edits and remixes, Sam Redmore truly broke onto the UK music scene in 2022, serving up slice after slice of eclectic funky goodness from his debut album Universal Vibrations, a release packed full of quality global grooves that had the ability to light up any dancefloor, carnival or party.
Radio support quickly followed the tastemaker club DJs with BBC 6 Music spinning tracks from the album hundreds of times (including over 100 plays for Nagu) and Sam contributing guest DJ mixes for a wide variety of shows from Craig Charles to Huey Morgan, Afrodeutsche to Cerys Matthews (who broadcast Sam’s guest mix on her Christmas Day show).
When Universal Vibrations came out Jazz FM made it Album of the Week and overseas FIP and KCRW also supported heavily.
Something was clearly happening and the music community was taking note.
2023 was all about recording the follow up and Sam assembled a crack team of musicians to give him the organic live sound he loves.
Glow is the first track to be released from his second album (due in the later part of 2024). As a statement of intent it is glorious.
No vocals required at this stage - just an unrelenting broken beat groove building and building to a spine tingling piano breakdown. Expect to hear this as a staple of open minded DJ’s sets throughout 2024.
In Sam’s own words, “Glow is a very special track for me. One of the first to come together for the new album, I was keen to expand on what I’d done before, bringing the strings and piano to the forefront and allowing them to take centre stage in a way that I maybe wouldn’t have previously had the confidence to do.”
