Sam Redmore - Pride

Having built up a huge following for his edits and remixes, Sam Redmore truly broke onto the UK music scene in 2022, serving up slice after slice of original eclectic funky goodness with debut album Universal Vibrations, a release packed full of quality global grooves that had the ability to light up any dancefloor.

Radio support came fast, with BBC 6 Music spinning tracks from the album hundreds of times (including over 100 plays for Nagu) and Sam contributing guest DJ mixes for a wide variety of shows including Craig Charles, Huey Morgan, Afrodeutsche and Cerys Matthews.

2024 has seen Sam release a series of killer singles on the road to his second album Modulate. The latest single Pride comes with a celebrity endorsement...

Sam tells us how Pride came about:

“Pride started life as a commission for Joe Lycett's stand-up show, 'More, More, More, How Do You Lycett?'. Looking for a bespoke piece of music to play whilst entering the stage, as well as to soundtrack a short video as the show hits its crescendo, Lycett - famously known as a flag bearer for Birmingham artists and creatives - got in touch having been won over by my debut album, Universal Vibrations. Following the conclusion of the show's tour and with Joe's blessing, I set about developing Pride into a fully-fledged track in its own right.

The track is inspired by the classic disco output of labels including Salsoul Records and Philadelphia International, with co-writer Rory Simmons once again instrumental in crafting the larger than life horn and string arrangements. This one has been a secret weapon in my DJ sets for the last 18 months, and always seems to do the business on the dancefloor.

Pride releases on 13th September, accompanied by the full album Modulate on 11th October 2024. There will be a full UK tour from Sam Redmore & The Tropical Soundclash to follow.
